Our hospital provides a 24-hour equine critical care service, 365 days a year. Our experienced team of clinicians, surgeons and nurses are available to deal with all types of medical and surgical emergencies, including colic, colitis, pneumonia and pleuropneumonia, neurological problems and orthopaedic or other trauma injuries.
Our veterinary and nursing teams have access to state-of-the art facilities and equipment, including diagnostic imaging, surgical and medical facilities and our comprehensive diagnostic laboratory service. A fully-staffed surgical team is on call 24-hours a day for surgical emergencies and specialists in allied disciplines, such as equine internal medicine, reproduction and diagnostic imaging, are always available to assist in the diagnosis and management of multi-system disease or complex conditions.
In addition to our specialised neonatal and older foal intensive care unit, the hospital has six stables dedicated for adult intensive care, plus a further two stables for intensive care in an isolation unit for equines with infectious disease. One of our nurses is assigned specifically to intensive care and together with an on-site overnight veterinary team, we can ensure that our critically ill patients are monitored closely 24 hours a day. CCTV monitoring is also available and is invaluable for monitoring some types of patients, such as those with neurological disease.
