Rossdales held their 9th Foal Care Course at the British Racing School, Newmarket, on 17th to 19th January. Emily Haggett designed the programme and again it was fully subscribed with 68 delegates attending from 13 countries.
As previously, the Course was dedicated to Peter Rossdale, Founding Partner, who was described as “The Father of modern equine perinatology and a continuing source of inspiration to us all”. Peter Rossdale attended the session on foal prematurity and neonatal maladjustment syndrome and was pictured afterwards with Sandra Taylor and Peter Morresey.
Visiting Speakers were Peter Morresey from Rood & Riddle, Kentucky, USA, Sandra Taylor from Purdue University, Indiana, USA, Kevin Corley from Ireland and Alexandra Dugdale from Cheshire. Ten Rossdales’ team members spoke on their expert subjects.
On the first evening, Rossdales hosted an enlightening visit to Palace House and the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art, followed by supper at The Tack Room. The following evening, an excellent Course Dinner was held at the Jockey Club Rooms. At the end of the course, delegates, speakers and sponsors spoke of their enjoyment of both the educational and social events.
Eclipse Software was the main Course sponsor and there were ten trade stands. Jenny Ricketts, of Whorl Publishing, administrated the Course, producing the 193-page booklet of detailed notes, a veritable ‘text book’ which is available at www.whorlpublishing.co.uk.
