The 25th running of the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course was held between 17th-19th May at Rossdales Equine Hospital and Diagnostic Centre. This ever-popular course was once again fully booked, with 36 delegates attending from the UK, Europe, Dubai, Singapore and Australia.
The two-and-a-half-day course comprised a mixture of high-quality lectures and practical sessions with a distinguished group of speakers including Roger Smith (RVC) (main image), Virginia Reef (University of Pennsylvania, USA), Sue Dyson (AHT), Eddy Cauvin (AzurVet, France) and Sarah Boys Smith (Rossdales). Rossdales clinician Vanessa Peter, our Diagnostic Imaging Resident, also contributed during the practical sessions and the quiz, while veterinary nurse Lynn Irving once again helped organise the practical sessions.
Split into small groups, all delegates got the opportunity to improve their skills with some of the best ultrasound machines available, provided by course sponsor IMV Imaging (formerly known as BCF Technology), under the direct tutelage of the lecturers with both normal horses and a selection of clinical cases.
The practical sessions also included manica flexoria (deep digital flexor tendon) dissection in equine cadaveric limbs.
The course also included an interesting social programme, which got off to a great start when IMV Imaging took delegates out for dinner on Thursday evening. On Friday, it was up early for a visit to the gallops before lectures and after a busy day, everyone had time to relax during an excellent course dinner at Tattersalls.
Thanks to IMV Imaging for their generous sponsorship and to BEVA, Mike Shepherd, Rachel Clay and Lynn Irving for organising the course.
Plans are already underway for next year's course and you can register your interest by contacting email@example.com. Details will appear on our Events pages in due course.
