Rain didn’t stop play at Little Downham Horse Trials last weekend, where Rossdales sponsored the BE105 sections on Sunday, 23rd July. However, the changeable and often wet weather conditions did little to dampen the spirits of our two section winners, Kerry Higgs and Mary Edmundson.
An elated Kerry (pictured above and right) won section N on her chestnut Dutch-bred Emor B (“Goochy”), who was originally bought for her daughter, but proved to be too strong. Kerry was going to sell Goochy, but decided to keep him and has developed a great partnership with him. This was their first British Eventing (BE) win. As Kerry doesn’t have an arena at home, she travels to see Sylvi Millard, who is the DC of Kerry’s local Pony Club branch (Beds South). Kerry said: “I’m so grateful to Sylvi – it’s mainly due to her help and a lot of hard work that Goochy has become a lovely rideable horse - who obviously does better with a Novice [dressage] test and bigger jumps! I cannot tell you how special this win is - it has given me the most fantastic boost - I'm not too old after all! Thank you to Rossdales for your sponsorship, and to Little Downham for a fabulous event, even after all that rain the going was great.”
Section M was won by Rossdales client Mary on the attractive grey Sunday Driver (pictured below), who finished more than 4 penalties ahead of the second placed horse and rider. Talented Mary is starting to make a habit of winning our sponsored sections at BE events, having won the inaugural BE105 class at this event last year and also a Rossdales BE100 section at Isleham at the beginning of this season – all on different horses.
Thanks to Rossdales nurse, Lynn Irving, who presented the prizes.
